Just before the start of the Leeds Test between England and India, during the pre-match show for the broadcaster, Cheteshwar Pujara, Sunil Gavaskar, and Michael Vaughan were involved in a funny banter. Pujara made the former England captain sign a framed copy of one of his old tweets.
The tweet in question was from four and a half years ago, in which Vaughan had predicted that India would be whitewashed by Australia after Day 1 of their Test series in Adelaide during the 2020–21 tour. India were bowled out for their lowest-ever Test total of 36 in the second innings and lost that match.
However, India made a strong comeback by winning the second Test, thanks to an impressive century from Ajinkya Rahane. The series saw memorable performances, including standout knocks from Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar in the first innings of the Gabba Test, followed by Cheteshwar Pujara, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant in the second innings.

Cheteshwar Pujara scored 271 runs in the 2020–21 Australia tour
Eventually, India won the series and became the first team to defeat Australia in back-to-back Test series in Australia. Pujara played a key role once again, scoring 271 runs in four matches and finishing as India’s second-highest run-scorer in the series. During the 2018–19 tour, when India won a Test series in Australia for the first time, Pujara had been named Player of the Series.
In a light-hearted moment, Vaughan, smirking, took the framed tweet and signed it. Pujara and Gavaskar shared a laugh as he did so. The fun exchange was taken in good spirit, before the focus shifted to the series opener, where Ben Stokes won the toss and chose to bowl first. The decision, however, didn’t go England’s way as the visitors had a strong start, finishing at 215/2 by the end of the second session on Day One.
