Rashid Khan to miss first two Sri Lanka ODIs due to back problem

Ahead of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, Afghanistan have suffered a major setback as Rashid Khan has been ruled out of the first two matches due to a lower-back problem. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed the news and stated that Rashid will be closely monitored by the medical staff during this period. However, he is expected to make a comeback for the third and final ODI on June 7 in Hambantota.

“Afghanistan’s Bowling Ace Rashid Khan has sustained a low back injury which forces him out of the first two games against Sri Lanka. The Team Physio’s report confirms the injury and states that he will remain under full medical observation and is expected to return for the final ODI on June 7. Get well soon Champ!” the ACB said.

The ODI series will commence on Friday, June 2, with the first match taking place in Hambantota. The second ODI will also be held at the same venue on Sunday, June 4. In the absence of Rashid, the responsibility of peading the spin attack will fall on Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb ur Rahman, and Noor Ahmad.
