Former Pakistan bowler Mohammad Asif expressed doubts about India accepting the hybrid model proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the Asia Cup 2023. According to the 40-year-old, the participating teams will be reluctant to visit, and he predicts that the tournament will be relocated to Sri Lanka or Dubai.

“I don’t think it will happen. Because the political situation is not great. Any team will be a little apprehensive of coming. So I think the Asia Cup will be shifted to Sri Lanka or Dubai,” Mohammad Asif said in Tahir ‘The 12th Man’ YouTube channel.

Pakistan was granted the hosting rights for the event, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, Jay Shah, cited security concerns as the reason for the Indian team’s non-participation in Pakistan.

In response, Pakistan suggested four matches to be played in their country, while India’s matches are held at another venue, preferably the UAE. However, the BCCI has expressed dissatisfaction with this arrangement. The PCB also indicated that they would come over to India for the forthcoming World Cup, if they are allowed to host the Asia Cup.
