MSK Prasad, the former chief selector of the Indian team, has issued a clarification in the backdrop of Ambati Rayudu observing in an interview that he didn’t exactly shared a good working relationship with Prasad.

Following his omission from the Indian squad for the 2019 World Cup, Rayudu faced a significant setback. With 1694 runs in 55 matches and at an impressive average of 47.05, Rayudu had established himself as a valuable contributor to the team. However, the selection committee, headed by Prasad, opted to include Vijay Shankar instead of Rayudu for the tournament. This decision marked a turning point in Rayudu’s career, leading to a period of disappointment.

On his part, Prasad noted that the selection committee consists of five cricketers, and it was a collective decision to pick Shankar ahead of Rayudu. “All of us know that the selection committee has got five selectors and the captain sitting in the selection committee. Will any single person’s decision be taken or is it a consensus or is it an entire collective decision that would be taken? If an individual can take a decision then you don’t require five selectors,” Prasad told Times Now.
