Pakistan fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, has made a comeback to the Test squad for the upcoming two-match series against Sri Lanka.

Afridi had suffered a knee injury during the first Test in Galle last year, which forced him to miss the Asia Cup. He did make a comeback for the T20 World Cup in Australia, but once more hurt his knee, which in turn resulted in him missing out on home Tests against England and New Zealand. Afridi, though, captained Lahore Qalandars to their second successive PSL title this season.

Afridi, who is on 99 Test wickets, said: “After missing our entire home season because of the injury I suffered in Sri Lanka, I am eager to make an impactful comeback in the same country and complete a century of wickets in Test cricket.”

The national selection committee has also included two uncapped players -, Mohammad Huraira and Aamer Jamal, in the 16-member squad. Huraira has scored over 2000 first-class runs at an impressive average of 68.24 while Jamal is an all-rounder. This series against Sri Lanka marks Pakistan’s first assignment in the third cycle of the ICC World Test Championship.
