In what comes as a major development regarding the schedule of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, to be hosted by India from October 5 to November 19, the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai are are all set to host the semi-finals of the showpiece event.
It was reported by multiple news portals earlier that Chennai and Mumbai were frontrunners to host the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup, but sources privy to the development have confirmed to RevSportz that Eden Gardens will host one of the semis while the Wankhede, which hosted the final of the 2011 ODI World Cup, will host the other last-four encounter.

“Eden Gardens will host one of the semi-finals,” said the source. “It is confirmed. Wankhede Stadium will host the other semi-final. Ahmedabad will get the final. The schedule will be announced on June 27 at the special ICC event in Mumbai.”
Initial versions of the schedule had Eden Gardens hosting the India-South Africa game on November 5. It remains to be seen whether that match will now be staged elsewhere. While there has been an unprecedented delay in the ICC announcing the schedule, the full set of fixtures is set to be revealed on June 27 at a special ICC event in Mumbai.
