West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite has urged his team to be consistent in the two-Test series against India, starting in Dominica later today (July 12).
In the previous World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, West Indies finished at the eighth spot, registering four victories and seven losses. India had finished second and lost to Australia in the final.
“We look forward to the challenge. We also look forward to the support of the Dominican public. And we have had a number of discussions on how we want to go about it and the key is consistency. We want to be consistent and that is from the first innings right through the whole Test match into the second Test. We look forward to doing that,” Brathwaite told the media ahead of the first Test.
Brathwaite’s team, which has by and large struggled in this format, faces the daunting task of taking on an Indian keen to start the new WTC cycle on a positive note. And, the West Indies have not beaten India in a Test series for over two decades.
