Yuzvendra Chahal, the leg-spinner for Rajasthan Royals (RR), expressed his disappointment with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for not making a stronger effort to bring him back to the franchise during the IPL 2022 mega auction.
During the mega auction, RCB retained players such as Virat Kohli, who had stepped down as captain by then, for INR 15 crore, Glenn Maxwell for INR 11 crore, and Mohammed Siraj for INR 7 crore. Chahal, on the other hand, was released by RCB and later acquired by the Rajasthan Royals for INR 6.5 crore.
Chahal’s association with RCB began in 2014 and spanned eight years, during which he became one of their most valuable players. He took 139 wickets in 113 matches for RCB, making him the franchise’s highest wicket-taker in IPL history.
“When I put my name up for the auction, they promised me that they would go all out for me. ‘I said okay’, but then I was very angry [He was not picked by RCB]. I think I did not speak to the coaches for 2-3 days. Even when I played my first match for RR against RCB, I did not speak to anyone,” Chahal said in an interview on Ranveer Allahbadia’s YouTube channel.
