Broad fifth in 600-wicket club

On the opening day of the fourth Ashes Test in Manchester, veteran England pacer Stuart Broad reached the remarkable milestone of 600 wickets in this format of the game. He joined teammate James Anderson as the only other fast bowler to achieve this feat, and the fifth man in history to reach this mark.

During the final session of the opening day, the 37-year-old dismissed a well-set Travis Head (48) to reach the landmark, showcasing his exceptional skill and prowess. Earlier in the day, he had accounted for opener Usman Khawaja for three.

Broad’s Test career has been outstanding and his longevity truly commendable. Endurance in this format of cricket has been instrumental in his long journey. Securing 600 Test wickets is a monumental achievement and Broad’s name is now etched alongside greats like Muthiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Anil Kumble and Anderson who have achieved this feat
