India’s batting maestro, Virat Kohli, marked his 29th Test century during the second Test against West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval on Friday, July 21.

Having started his innings on Day 1 with India at 153 for 2, Kohli was tantalizingly close to his century at stumps, only 13 runs away. Playing his 500th international match, Kohli reached the three-figure mark with a boundary off Shannon Gabriel when India’s score stood at 314-4.

This century holds significance as it is Kohli’s first international ton overseas since 2018, when he last achieved it during India’s tour of Australia in December 2018. Additionally, it marks his third century against the West Indies, surpassing 1,000 Test runs against them.

With this century, Kohli now boasts a staggering total of 76 international centuries across all formats.
