Through an emotional phone call, Indian pacer Mukesh Kumar shared his happiness of making his Test debut at Port of Spain with his mother.

The 308th Test player for India, Mukesh received his much-deserved debut cap on Day 1 of the ongoing second Test against West Indies, a momentous occasion as it marked the 100th Test between the two cricketing nations. Shardul Thakur’s unfortunate groin injury opened the door for Mukesh, leading him to this significant milestone in his career.

“My mother told me to stay happy all the time. Keep moving forward. She said her blessings are always with me. For her, all that she wants me to do is keep improving and getting better. This moment is very important for me. I can’t explain how happy I am. I made the debut in the morning and in the evening, I am talking to my mother. I am not able to understand what to say,” Mukesh said in a video shared by the BCCI.
