The eagerly awaited Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan at Pallekele on the outskirts of Kandy in Sri Lanka was abandoned without a ball being bowled in Pakistan’s chase of 267. Earlier, Pakistan’s pace bowlers, led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, had taken all ten wickets as India were bowled out for 266 with seven balls still left to be bowled in the innings.

India had slumped to 66 for 4, and were indebted to a partnership of 138 runs in just 141 balls between Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya. Kishan, who batted at the crucial No. 4 slot, made a classy 81-ball 82, while Pandya showcased his all-round talent with 87 from just 90 balls. Afridi finished with 4 for 35, while Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf took three wickets apiece.
