Babar sniffs slight edge for Pakistan

Pakistan’s all-format skipper Babar Azam believes his team will enjoy a slight advantage over India in the Asia Cup Super Four clash on Sunday (September 10). During the pre-match press conference, Babar pointed out that Pakistan’s extended stay and experience in Sri Lanka give them an edge over the Men in Blue.

“You can say we have the edge as we have played back-to-back cricket here (in Sri Lanka) and in Pakistan,” Babar said. “It has been two-and-a-half months in Sri Lanka including the Test series, Lanka Premier League, Afghanistan series and now the Asia Cup. So you can say it will be an advantage (for us),” concluded the Pakistan captain.

After their group-stage match remained incomplete due to rain in Pallekele, the arch-rivals are set to face each other again in Colombo. Persistent rain has disrupted the 50-over tournament, which serves as a lead-up to the World Cup in India. Pakistan secured a victory in their first Super Four stage match, and another win would boost their chances of reaching the final slated for September 17.
