Shubman Gill has said that Indian players study top international batters to gain insights into their game, and Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is an example. In a press conference ahead of the highly-anticipated Super Four match of the Asia Cup in Colombo, the opener also said the Indian players admire Babar’s remarkable batting prowess.
“Yes, we definitely follow him. When a player is doing well, everyone watches him to find out why they are doing so well, what their speciality is. The same goes for Babar. He is a world-class player and we all admire him,” Gill said on Saturday in Colombo.
Babar, who holds the top position in the ICC men’s ODI rankings for batters, has been in exceptional form leading up to the World Cup. His Asia Cup began with a knock of 151 against Nepal in Multan. He didn’t get a chance to bat against India and was dismissed cheaply against Bangladesh in Lahore in the Super Fours match, which Pakistan won by seven wickets.
Pakistan and India are set to cross swords in the third match of the Super Four stage at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday (September 10).
