Kuldeep Yadav acknowledged skipper Rohit Sharma for his enhanced bowling performance in the Asia Cup 2023, revealing that he had advised him to focus on his speed.
“For the past year and a half, I’ve been working on my rhythm,” said Kuldeep during the post-match presentation. “I aim to be more aggressive as I approach the crease. I’m thoroughly enjoying my bowling.
“In T20s, the length of the delivery also plays a crucial role. It’s not just about chasing wickets; it’s about maintaining the right lengths. I’ve put in a lot of hard work in that aspect. Credit goes to Rohit bhai. He encouraged me to focus on my pace. When fast bowlers provide early breakthroughs during the powerplay, it eases the job for spinners.”
Kuldeep won the Player of the Series award, after taking nine wickets from five matches with his left-arm wrist-spin. That included a five-wicket haul against Pakistan. Kuldeep’s form in ODIs this year has been exceptional, with 32 wickets in 16 matches at an impressive average of 15.52 and a strike-rate of 20.52.
