Pace bowler Hasan Ali has been named in Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India, replacing Naseem Shah, who sustained a shoulder injury during the Asia Cup 2023 match against India. However, seam-bowling all-rounder, Faheem Ashraf, who was initially selected for the 2023 Asia Cup, has been left out.
Hasan’s last ODI appearance was in June 2022 when he took two wickets against West Indies. With 60 ODI matches under his belt and 91 wickets to his name since his debut in 2016, Hasan brings valuable experience to the squad.
Young paceman Zaman Khan and wicket-keeper Mohammad Haris, both part of the Pakistan squad during the Asia Cup 2023, have been designated as reserve players. Joining them is leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed, who has represented Pakistan in six Test matches.
Pakistan’s World Cup 2023 campaign will commence on October 6, with a match against the Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.
