Jasprit Bumrah, India’s premier pace bowler, unveiled his strategy for the upcoming high-stakes game against Pakistan, saying that he was focused on his preparations without thinking too much about the external factors. The Ahmedabad-born pacer also expressed his excitement at the prospect of playing in front of his hometown crowd.
“I just go with my preparation, I go with the process that I feel is right to read the wickets and try to find the best answers that work on that wicket,” Bumrah told Star Sports. “As simple as that, I’m not thinking about the results. I look at my preparations and I am a little detached. I don’t know what’s going around in the world, so I just looked at what I have to do on that particular day. Obviously, reading the game and my strengths, that’s what has worked for me in the past as well. Keeping all those things in mind, will keep going forward.
“The atmosphere is going to be exciting. I am sure a lot of people are going to come and see the match, so it will be a sight to see. So, yeah hoping for the best over there as well.”
Bumrah’s remarkable form in the 2023 World Cup has seen him claim six wickets from the 20 overs bowled in two games. His standout performance came in the match against Afghanistan, where he took him an impressive 4-39 in batting-friendly conditions.
However, Bumrah’s record against Pakistan has room for improvement. He averages 42.60 with the ball, his worst figure against any team.
In six previous innings, he has taken only five wickets. Notably, Bumrah has gone wicketless on three of those occasions.
