The Asian Para Games 2022 medalists engaged with and spent quality time with the Hon’ble Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Information & Broadcasting, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, following their historic victory in the Games, where they took home a record 29 gold medals among their illustrious collection of 111 medals.
Yesterday, the Hon’ble Minister met with the coaches and the following athletes: Sheetal Devi (para-archer), Rakesh Kumar (para-archer), Suraj (para-archer), Bhavina Patel (para-TT), Ekta Bhyan (para-athletics), Nishad Kumar (para-athletics), Pramod Bhagat (para-badminton), and Krishna Nagar (para-badminton).
The Medalists exchanged presents and keepsakes with the Hon’ble Minister during the lively and engaging meeting as they discussed their experiences and lessons learned from the game. The Honorable Minister additionally commemorated their momentous achievement with candies and handwritten notes on the ribbon of their medal.
To show his appreciation for the Hon’ble Minister’s support of para-athletes and para-sports in the country, Krishna Nagar also gave him a badminton racquet.
The Hon. Anurag Singh Thakur, Minister of Youth Affairs, Sports, Information, and Broadcasting, praised all para-athletes’ efforts, acknowledged their contribution to India’s status as a sporting superpower, and promised the government will continue to support them.
