Jasprit Bumrah, India’s pace spearhead, expressed his love for Test cricket, emphasizing that the red-ball format is his favourite. After ending the South Africa tour as the highest wicket-taker, Bumrah is gearing up for the upcoming five-match Test series against the visiting England team led by Ben Stokes.

“This is, you know, my favourite, because I love the Test format. It gives you a lot of joy. Playing Test cricket was my dream and I did that,” he told Brut in an interview.

Reflecting on his favourite memories from the format, Bumrah highlighted the significance of claiming his first Test wicket, which happened to be AB de Villiers in South Africa. “My first Test wicket was AB de Villiers in South Africa. All of these memories are quite special for me.”

Having made a successful comeback and remained injury-free in the hectic cricket calendar, Bumrah is expected to play a crucial role in the Test series versus England.

Despite having limited opportunities to play Test matches in India, the right-arm pacer has made a considerable impact. Bumrah’s four Test matches on home soil have yielded 14 wickets at an impressive average of 15.64, with a strike rate of 36.43. Notably, out of his 140 Test wickets, 41 have come against England; most for Bumrah against a Test playing nation.
