Ravichandran Ashwin has showered praise on England’s innovative approach to Test cricket, Bazball. He finds the aggressive and fearless style adopted by England in Test matches intriguing and is excited to face it for the first time. Ashwin, currently the number one ranked Test bowler, lauded England’s performance in Test arena over the past few years and is intrigued by the unpredictability they bring to the game.
Speaking at the BCCI Awards ceremony, the master off-spinner said: “Bazball excites me. England have been playing exceptionally well in Test cricket since the last few years. They have achieved results with their fearless approach. I am standing here without knowing what to expect. I am impressed with the way they have dealt with rival teams. I am looking forward to the Test series.”
Ashwin is just 10 wickets away from reaching the iconic 500-wicket milestone and he is expected to reach it during the upcoming five-Test series against England. When he gets there, it will make him the ninth bowler overall, the second Indian, and the fifth spinner to achieve this feat.
The 37-year-old cricketer has an impressive record against England in red-ball cricket with 88 wickets to his name from 19 matches.
With the bat, he has scored over 3,000 runs in Tests, including five centuries. One of them has been scored against England, in 2021 at Chepauk.
The Test series between India and England commences at Hyderabad from Thursday.
