After converting his third hundred into a 150-plus score, young India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal shared his mantra for scoring big hundreds. He said that when he is set, he makes sure to play as long as he can.
Ever since making his debut in the Caribbean, Jaiswal has been sensational with the bat. In just seven Tests, the left-handed batter has scored 861 runs at an average of 71.75, including two double hundreds.
“I’m just trying to make it big whenever I’m set. In Test cricket, you never know; I try to make sure I play as long as I can when I’m set,” said Jaiswal at the post-match presentation.
After getting out cheaply in the first innings, Jaiswal began cautiously in the second innings and then shifted gears to smash his second consecutive double hundred.
“It was pretty difficult, initially. I was not getting runs, so I had to play the session and play the bowler. Then, when I got set, I could score the runs,” added Jaiswal.

Jaiswal also underlined the importance of the seniors’ advice on scoring big runs. The southpaw drew inspiration from the way Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja played in the first innings. Both of them scored centuries in the first innings which helped the team post 445.
“As all my seniors have said, when you are set, make it big and make it count. The way Rohit (Sharma) bhai and Jaddu (Jadeja) bhai played in the first innings really inspired me. The way they played session-by-session was incredible, the way they put on effort motivated all of us,” added Jaiswal.
