The stage was set at the iconic Fatorda Stadium, where FC Goa locked horns with Chennaiyin FC in the second playoff clash of the Indian Super League (ISL). Both teams came into this fixture with momentum and fans were expecting a mouth-watering clash. The 2-1 verdict in favour of FC Goa came at the end of a fairly exciting match.
The home side got a chance immediately after the kick-off when Noah Sadaoui took a shot from outside the box. Chennaiyin’s goalkeeper Debjit Majumder made a comfortable save.
After that, Manolo Márquez’s men kept pressure on the visitors. Noah tried his luck again with a shot in the ninth minute. But again, Debjit made a save to keep the scores level. The visitors were looking clueless, as they were not able to sustain the continuous pressure. The deadlock broke in the 36th minute, thanks to a clinical finish from Noah.

In the 45th minute, Brandon Fernandes scored a stunner to give the Gaurs a 2-0 lead. The FC Goa skipper went for a shot from outside the box and smashed it into the top right corner. But, in the additional minutes of the first half, Cirkovic scored and brought Chennaiyin back into the game.
In the second half, both teams were looking threatening. A big chance came to Own Coyle’s side in the 74th minute. However, Odei cleared the ball off the line to the relief of the home fans. In the dying minutes, Noah had a chance to seal the game but this time, Debjit made a fantastic save to keep it 2-1. The home side managed to hold the lead till the last whistle. They will face Mumbai City FC in the semi-final and it is going to be a clash to watch out for!
