RR to take on RCB in Eliminator after Guwahati washout

PC – BCCI

Due to incessant rain, the Indian Premier League 2024 game between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders in Guwahati was abandoned without a single ball being bowled.

As a result, RR and Sunrisers Hyderabad finished up on 17 points each. However, as SRH ended up with a slightly better NRR, the franchise progressed to the Qualifier 1 stage of the tournament, where they will meet the in-form KKR. Meanwhile, RR now have to compete with the resurgent Royal Challengers Bengaluru side in the Eliminator phase.

A couple of times the rain did relent. Unfortunately, it soon returned to dash any hopes of the match commencing. In fact, at around 10.30 PM local time, the toss did take place, with the umpires deciding that it would be a seven-over-a-side contest. Shreyas Iyer, the KKR skipper, won the toss and decided to bowl.

Just that, it didn’t take long for the heavens to again open up. At 10.49 PM local time, the umpires had enough and called off the game. The Qualifiers 1 game will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 21. On the very next day, and at the same stadium, the Eliminator match is scheduled to be held.
