The reigning ISL champions are likely to extend the contracts of their towering defender Tiri and midfield maestro Jayesh Rane. Tiri’s contract, which ends this month, had him rumored to join Bengaluru FC after they won the ISL 2023-24 Final. However, according to a source close to RevSportz, Mumbai City FC is keen to continue their relationship with Tiri.
Additionally, Jayesh Rane, who joined Mumbai from Bengaluru FC in July last year, has shone with his outstanding performances in the later stages of the season. He was instrumental in Mumbai’s remarkable comeback against FC Goa in the first leg of the ISL Semi-Final. Given his impressive stint in his first year with Mumbai, the Islanders’ management is likely to extend his contract for the upcoming seasons. A source close to RevSportz mentioned that the club would like to secure the Mumbai-born midfielder for an additional 2-3 years, although this has not been confirmed yet.
Jayesh has also attracted interest from Jamshedpur FC and his former club, Chennaiyin FC. However, the latest information suggests that Jayesh is most likely to stay with Mumbai for the upcoming season.
Tiri joined the Mumbai-based club in July last year after a long injury layoff. Despite this, he has been a key member of Mumbai’s backline throughout the season and played a major role in their ISL Championship triumph.
Both Tiri and Jayesh Rane are seasoned campaigners, each with over 120 ISL games under their belts. Peter Kratky, who has done a fabulous job with the Islanders since joining the club mid-season, wants to retain these experienced players who were central to Mumbai’s recent success in the ISL.
