To break news in advance is one of the major tasks of a news organisation. Before something has happened, they say that this is going to happen. It’s not like making predictions about the future. It’s more of deducing, based on the knowledge of the past and present, which helps form an idea of what’s coming. It requires hard work and a continuous process of staying in touch with reality.
RevSportz reporting on retention of players for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League has been a shining example of that. Almost 100 per cent of the names mentioned by us across our different platforms have been retained. Here’s a tiny example, we reported that Punjab Kings would keep hold of Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. That’s exactly what has happened. It’s easier to mention prominent names. Not quite when it comes to these uncapped players. That’s what we did. This happened only due to diligence and hard work.
Let’s take Chennai Super Kings. We mentioned that Ruturaj Gaekwad, Shivam Dube, Maheesha Pathirana and MS Dhoni would be retained. That’s how it panned out. For Mumbai Indians, we said Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah would be retained. The franchise added Tilak Varma to that list. It was not easy to stick our neck out and say that Delhi Capitals would keep Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Tristan Stubbs. We got that right here as well.
The list doesn’t end there. For Gujarat Titans, our correspondents reported that Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan and Sai Sudharsan would stay with the franchise. Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan were added to the list. In case of Lucknow Super Giants, we said the franchise would part ways with KL Rahul and retain Nichloas Pooran with Mayank Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi. We were spot on.
There was a lot of speculation about Royal Challengers Bengaluru. We maintained that Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal would remain. This was dead accurate. For Sunrisers Hyderabad, our horses were Pat Cummins, Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Kumar Reddy. The franchise added Travis Head to the list.
We had said that Rajasthan Royals would retain Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag and not keep Yuzvendra Chahal. That’s what it turned out to be. Lastly, in the case of Kolkata Knight Riders, we said that Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh and Harshit Rana were certainties, while Shreyas Iyer was not. There was no change to this script.
Achieving this cent percent accuracy is not easy. What we missed were some uncapped players and one or two others when it came to a few teams. One has to remember that these were in addition to the names mentioned by us. We didn’t miss any prominent names. That’s called reporting. We saw what was coming due to our research and hard work. This increases our resolve and commitment towards reporting. In future, we will keep bringing to you what other platforms will not. Stay with us.
