Nicholas Pooran showed his consistency along with power-hitting as he thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens. KKR are taking on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Kolkata. KKR won the toss and elected to bowl first. Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh came out to open the innings, and the LSG innings took off from the very first over. Although Marsh was a little slow initially, he later paced his innings well. The opening pair put up 99 runs for the first wicket.
Then came the storm named Nicholas Pooran. Continuing his fantastic form in this year’s IPL, he took the KKR bowlers to the cleaners. Pooran showed no respect to any bowler, hitting almost every ball that came his way. His blistering innings of 87* off 36 balls included seven fours and eight towering sixes. He played at a stunning strike rate of 241.67. His partnerships of 71 off 30 balls with Marsh and 51 off 18 with Abdul Samad helped LSG post a mammoth total of 238/3 in their 20 overs.
Nicholas Pooran has now three fifties in five games in the IPL 2025
Pooran started this IPL with a knock of 75 off 30 balls at a strike rate of 250 against Delhi Capitals (DC). In the second match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), he scored 70 off 26 balls, striking at 269.23. In the third match against Punjab Kings (PBKS), Pooran hit 44 runs off 30 balls.
Though he was quiet in the fourth match against Mumbai Indians (MI), scoring only 12 runs off six balls, he once again showed his class today. He lit up Eden Gardens with his magnificent shots. In the process, he also completed 2000 runs in his IPL career and reached the milestone of 150 sixes in the tournament. He is also the current orange cap holder with 288 runs in five innings, at an average of 72.00.
