Priyansh Arya set the Chandigarh stadium on fire against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). No bowler got a respite from his hitting. While wickets kept falling at one end, it looked like a different pitch from the other, as Arya was taking the bowlers to the cleaners.
Arya started his blistering innings with a six off the very first ball. On the second ball, he was dropped — a costly mistake by CSK, as he proved immediately by hitting another six off the fifth ball to Khaleel. In the last ball of the second over, Arya struck yet another six.
Finally, CSK got some relief in the 14th over when Arya was dismissed by Noor Ahmed, and caught by Vijay Shankar. Arya scored 103 runs off just 42 balls, including seven fours and nine towering sixes. In the process, Arya became the fastest Indian uncapped player to score an IPL hundred, and the fourth-fastest century hitter in IPL history.
Fastest Centuries in IPL:
30 balls – Chris Gayle vs PWI (2013)
37 balls – Yusuf Pathan vs MI (2010)
38 balls – David Miller vs RCB (2013)
39 balls – Priyansh Arya vs CSK (2025)
39 balls – Travis Head vs RCB (2024)
How much did PBKS pay for Priyansh Arya at the auction?
Arya first came into the limelight when he hit six sixes in an over and scored 120 runs off 50 balls in a match in the Delhi Premier League. In the auction, Punjab Kings (PBKS) fought with other teams and finally secured him for ₹3.8 crores, starting from a base price of ₹30 lakhs. Arya was also Delhi’s top scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023/24 with 222 runs in seven innings.
