Jofra Archer continued his good form with the new ball as he rattled the stumps of Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper, Shubman Gill in Ahmedabad in today’s ongoing IPL 2025 clash. Jofra dismissed Gill with the very first ball of his second over. It was a dream delivery that nipped back in and went through the gap between bat and pad to rattle the stumps. Gill’s expression as he walked back to the dressing room reflected the impact of that ball. The delivery was clocked at 147.7 km/h.
However, it was not the first time when Gill was dismissed in T20s by the English pacer. Before this game, Gill had struggled by scoring just nine runs in four T20 innings and also got dismissed twice. Now, with today’s dismissal, Archer have got him for the third time. The GT skipper came into this match after scoring a brilliant 61* off 43 balls with a strike rate of 141.86 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), an innings that included nine fours.

With GT’s batting order being top-heavy, the team relies heavily on their captain to provide a solid start. However, that wasn’t the case today, as GT managed only 14 runs for the first wicket before Gill was cleaned up by Jofra. GT ended the powerplay with 56 runs for the loss of one wicket — slightly better than their previous outing against SRH, where they scored 48 runs in the powerplay.
Though Jofra didn’t have a great start to this year’s IPL, he was in brilliant form in the previous match, where he took three wickets and conceded just 25 runs, finishing with an economy of 6.25 in his four overs. In today’s match so far, Jofra has bowled three overs, taken one wicket, and given away 19 runs.
