Ipswich signed him from Manchester City for £15m plus £5m in add-ons after their promotion. He has been a key player for them, but City included a 20% sell-on clause in the deal.
If Ipswich drop out of the top flight, Delap’s release clause will reportedly fall to £30m. That would give clubs like United and Chelsea a big boost in their pursuit of the young England Under-21 striker.
Right now, Manchester City are not expected to activate their buyback clause. Delap is also said to be looking for regular first-team football.
