In today’s clash at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has faced Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 25th match of IPL 2025. As speculated the pitch favoured the bowlers specially the spinners which helped KKR to destroy the batting unit of CSK where they scored 103/9 which is the lowest score on their home ground. The performance of CSK batters in the season is concerning, fans and critics have raised questions on sending Mahindra Singh Dhoni at nine who is known for finishing matches at number seven.
Five times champion team, CSK is currently on ninth position on the points table with only one win in the season. In IPL 2025 it is clearly seen that CSK is struggling with bat, specially their top order is inconsistent as the head coach of CSK Stephen Fleming mentioned his disappointment that how the team has failed to capitalise with both bat and filed.
Dhoni at 9 isn’t helping CSK
Fleming has already mentioned Dhoni’s batting is at ninth due to his physical limitations specially his knee conditions but fans and cricket critics thinks sending Dhoni at no 9 is not good for the team.
After Dhoni return’s as captain of CSK, fans speculated to see the improvement in the team. If CSK aims to regain their momentum the team has to optimise their batting strategy to improve their outcome in the tournament.
