In the high-stake clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 25th match of IPL 2025, CSK scored their lowest score of 103/9 in their home ground, MA Chidambaram Stadium. It was a disappointing return for MS Dhoni, the CSK captain as they suffered an embarrassing defeat in front of the home crowd.
MS Dhoni has won 133 out of 226 matches as captain in the IPL, resulting in a winning percentage of 58.84%. But, today, he failed to show his magic as he did not get any support from his batters, especially.
KKR finished the game in the 11th over and won the match by eight wickets which took the visitors to the third spot in the IPL 2025 points table. The performance of CSK is concerning as they have now lost five consecutive matches this season.
CSK are now sitting at the ninth spot after six games in the IPL 2025
After getting defeated by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on the home ground, CSK’s head coach Stephan Fleming in the post-match press conference said the five-times champions have failed to understand the pitch in the last few years.
As quoted by ESPNCricinfo, Fleming said: “Well, as we’ve been telling you for a number of years, there was no home advantage at Chepauk. We’ve won away from home a couple of times. And we haven’t been able to read… we’ve been really honest with you. We haven’t been able to read the wickets here in the last couple of years. So, it’s not new. We are trying to come to grips each day with what we get, and we don’t know,”
Now, with another loss, CSK’s chances to be alive in the playoff race are looking very slim as they are currently sitting at the ninth spot with two points in six games, at a net run rate of -1.554.
