Gujarat Titans (GT) took on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 26th match of the IPL. GT, batting first, put up a score of 180 runs for the loss of six wickets. While chasing the target, Aiden Markram came out to open the batting alongside captain Rishabh Pant. Though they put together a partnership of 65 runs off 38 balls, Pant once again failed with the bat.
Pant started very slowly, scoring just two runs from his first seven balls. He hit his first boundary in the third over off Mohammed Siraj. But throughout the innings, he looked off-colour, and in the end, he managed only 21 runs from 18 balls, giving his catch to Washington Sundar at third man off the bowling of Prasidh Krishna.
Nothing seems to be going right for Pant, as he is having a very poor IPL. In the first game against Delhi Capitals (DC), Pant was out for a duck off six balls. In their second match, he scored 15 runs from 15 balls at a strike rate of 100 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Pant managed just two runs from five balls in the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). He was again dismissed after scoring two runs against Mumbai Indians.
Pant was acquired by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a hefty sum of INR 27 crores with high hopes and was made the captain of the team. But they need their captain to fire—otherwise, it will be difficult for them to go far in this IPL.
