The match, held at the Ekana Stadium, began with a light-hearted moment between the two stars.
During the toss, Dhoni and Pant shared a fun banter as friendly rivals. With smiles all around, the duo exchanged a few cheerful words before Pant gave Dhoni a brief hug and walked away, leaving fans delighted. Both leaders are looking to guide their respective teams to victory in this crucial clash. But aside from Dhoni and Pant, other players will also need to step up for their teams to secure a win. Notably, despite this being LSG’s home ground, the crowd seemed heavily tilted in support of CSK.

Dhoni thanks CSK fans in Lucknow
The CSK fan base made their presence felt at the Ekana Stadium, with a sea of yellow jerseys filling the stands. Despite playing away from home, Dhoni and his team received massive support from the Lucknow crowd.
During the post-toss interview, Dhoni thanked the fans, saying: “Well blessed, that’s what I can say. You know wherever I have been or we have been, you know we get good support. So, a big thank you to all the fans.”
Having won the toss, the CSK skipper chose to bowl first, giving the LSG batters the chance to set a target. Now, the onus is on CSK’s bowlers to restrict the opposition and create a manageable chase for their batting unit in the second innings.
