Punjab Kings (PBKS) beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a low-scoring match by 16 runs, where both teams failed to play their full 20 overs on April 15, 2025, in Chandigarh.
Top 3 Moments from the Match
1. KKR’s Lower Order Failed
KKR’s lower batting order looks very strong on paper, but in reality, they have disappointed many times in this year’s IPL. Today, they failed miserably when Rinku Singh and Ramandeep Singh were dismissed on consecutive deliveries. Andre Russell, who is not having a good season so far, could not finish the match either.
2. KKR’s Bowling
KKR bowlers performed very well and had put their team in a strong position after the end of the first innings. However, their batters failed to capitalise on that effort. Harshit Rana set the tone by removing the PBKS top order. After that, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy contributed with two wickets each, helping restrict PBKS to just 111 runs. Rana finished with impressive figures of 3/25.
3. Yuzvendra Chahal’s Return to Form
Chahal, who had been having a quiet IPL until now, emerged as the hero of the match for PBKS. He nearly replicated his 2022 performance against KKR—when he took a hat-trick and turned the match around for Rajasthan Royals (RR). Shreyas Iyer, who was on the receiving end back then, used Chahal effectively today. Although he missed out on a hat-trick this time, his spell of 4/28 in four overs was instrumental in PBKS’s win in this low-scoring encounter. Chahal was rightly adjudged Player of the Match.
