New Delhi, April 16, 2025 – Teen sharpshooter Suruchi and seasoned Olympian Saurabh Chaudhary made India proud with a thrilling victory at the ISSF World Cup in Lima, Peru. The duo bagged gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event after an intense final against China’s Yao Qianxun and Hu Kai, finishing with a score of 17-9.

This latest triumph marked Suruchi’s third ISSF World Cup gold and Saurabh’s ninth overall, reinforcing his dominance in the sport. It was also his fifth gold in the mixed team category, adding to an already impressive collection that includes a silver as well.

The Indian pair made it to the final with a combined qualification score of 580, with Suruchi narrowly outperforming Saurabh. However, the Chinese duo topped the qualification round with a stronger score of 585.

The final started off in China’s favor, as they quickly built leads of 6-2 and 8-4. But a well-timed timeout by coach Samaresh Jung seemed to turn the tide. Suruchi held her nerve and remained consistent, while Saurabh came through with critical high 10s—most notably a perfect 10.9 that gave the team its first point.

Meanwhile, the other Indian team of Manu Bhaker and Ravinder Singh missed out on a podium finish. They placed fourth overall after a 6-16 loss to another Chinese team, Zhang Yifan and Ma Qianke, in the bronze medal match. Their qualification score stood at 579.

The Lima performance highlighted both India’s rising young talent and the steady presence of veterans, adding yet another golden chapter to the country’s shooting success story.

Speaking to ISSF Media, Chaudhary said, “After the bronze in this event a week back in Argentina, we applied our learnings and it did the work.” Youngster, Suruchi Singh Inder, who has now won three gold medals in a span of two weeks sounded confident. “We didn’t feel the nerves and kept to our basics, and that didthe trick. Happy to be able to win the gold here”, concluded Suruchi Singh Inder.
