Punjab Kings’ pace ace Arshdeep Singh has opened up about how the responsibility placed on his shoulders over the years has contributed significantly to his development, both as a cricketer and an individual.
In a recent episode of the Kandid with Kings series, hosted by Sahiba Bali, the left-arm pacer reflected on his journey and growing stature within the team. Arshdeep, who has been a part of the Punjab Kings setup for seven years, shared how he began to feel the weight of responsibility quite early in his IPL career.
“Except for my debut season, I started sensing a sense of seniority quite early on,” he said. “After that first year, the team started trusting me with key responsibilities, and that trust pushed me to evolve not just as a player but as a person as well.”
He went on to discuss how this rapid rise shaped his mindset, especially during crunch moments. “That growth came earlier than expected, and it made me realise that I couldn’t afford to falter in high-pressure situations. When things don’t go to plan, it can really affect the team. So, I became more focused and started thinking like a senior much sooner than I imagined.”
Arshdeep will be back in action when Punjab Kings take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 18.
