Manchester United’s disappointing Premier League season continued as they suffered their 15th defeat, going down 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford. Pablo Sarabia’s superb free-kick in the 77th minute proved to be the only goal of the game, handing Wolves a hard-fought away win.

With this loss, United remain stuck in 14th place with 38 points from 33 matches. But amid the gloom, there was one bright spot — the Premier League debut of academy talent Tyler Fredricson.

The 20-year-old was handed his first senior start by head coach Ruben Amorim and didn’t disappoint. Playing on the left side of a three-man defence, Fredricson looked calm, confident, and mature throughout the 90 minutes. According to Sofascore, he barely put a foot wrong all game.

Fredricson made four clearances and one interception and impressed in duels, winning seven of the eight ground duels he contested. His passing was another standout feature. He touched the ball 82 times and completed 64 of his 69 attempted passes, finishing with a 93% pass accuracy rate.

Before the match, Amorim had spoken highly of the youngster in an interview with MUTV. “He’s really composed, he’s really humble, every training he has with the first team, he is really focused on every detail of training. He’s really good on the ball, and it’s a good opportunity for him,” Amorim said.

Although United’s overall performance once again fell short, Fredricson’s display was a positive takeaway. Fans will now be eager to see more of him in the coming games.
