Suryakumar Yadav smashed his second fifty of the ongoing IPL 2025 as Mumbai Indians (MI) registered their fourth win of the season. Surya walked in to bat with MI at 63/1 after Ryan Rickelton was dismissed, and from there, he took charge alongside Rohit Sharma. The pair built an unbeaten 114-run partnership off just 54 balls, sealing a dominant victory for MI.

Surya got going in the ninth over, striking a four and a six off Ravindra Jadeja, and never looked back. He went on to score an unbeaten 68 off just 30 balls at a staggering strike rate of 226.67. His powerful knock featured six fours and five sixes. Rohit Sharma also played a crucial role, anchoring the innings and bringing up his first fifty of the season. His return to form will be a welcome boost for MI, offering much-needed stability in the top order.

“It was important for me to put my hand up and go out.” – Suryakumar Yadav

Speaking to the broadcaster after the emphatic win, Suryakumar Yadav said: “Rohit has been a legend, he knows the game. There was a little bit of grip, he told me to play my shots and we did that. I have grown up in the maidans of Mumbai, you play a lot of cricket on red soil. That’s where it comes from.”

Talking about the tactical move to No. 3, Surya added: “As soon as the coach told [me] you are going to bat at No. 3, you can’t let Jadeja come on top. He has the experience but I trained for it yesterday. They were playing a lot of spinners. [It was] important for me to put my hand up and go out. Even if it didn’t work, it’s okay, I had to take my chance. Important to understand what we want to do right now than look at the points table.”
