But now, Rohit is hitting the headlines for another reason—he shared a heartfelt message for current Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. In the Instagram story he posted, Rohit thanked Abhishek Nayar with a short message, “Thanks Bro,” while tagging him.
Nayar played a key role in Rohit’s post-2011 transformation, especially after the latter was dropped from the World Cup squad on fitness grounds. Since then, Nayar has been a trusted mentor and advisor, playing a crucial part in shaping Rohit’s training regime and mental strength.

Abhishek Nayar’s stint with Team India lasted for eight months
However, in recent days, Abhishek Nayar has also been in the news for other reasons. He has reportedly been sacked from his role as assistant coach of Team India by the BCCI. Although the board has not confirmed it officially, his return to KKR as assistant coach during the middle of the ongoing IPL season has more or less confirmed the development.
Nayar’s stint with Team India lasted for eight months and Rohit worked with him there also. During that time, especially in the red-ball format, India suffered major setbacks, including a home Test series loss against New Zealand and another Border-Gavaskar Trophy defeat in Australia.
