A tragic terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam has shaken the nation, leaving several casualties and sparking widespread condemnation. At least 26 civilians, most of whom were tourists, were reportedly killed in a terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday. This is being considered the deadliest attack in the valley since the Pulwama incident. As the country mourns the loss of innocent lives, voices from across India have spoken out — including members of the Indian cricket fraternity, who have expressed their grief, anger, and solidarity through social media, calling for peace and resilience in the face of such inhuman acts.

As a mark of condolence for the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, the BCCI has reportedly announced that players and umpires will wear black armbands during today’s IPL match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vs Mumbai Indians (MI). A one-minute silence will also be observed before the game begins. In addition, celebrations will be toned down at the venue, with no firecrackers and no cheerleaders.

Virat Kohli condemned the incident in his Instagram story, stating: “Deeply saddened by the heinous attack in Pahalgam on innocent people. Heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Praying for peace and strength to families of all those who lost their lives and justice to be served for this cruel act.”

Former India Women’s cricketer and skipper, Mithali Raj, expressed her sorrow through a social media post: “Deeply anguished by the terror attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam. I strongly condemn this cowardly and barbaric act. My heart goes out to the families of victims who lost their lives in this heartbreaking attack.”

Former Indian Men’s cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar, also shared his grief, posting: “Shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic attacks on innocent people in Pahalgam. The affected families must be going through an unimaginable ordeal – India and the world stand united with them at this dark hour, as we mourn the loss of lives and pray for justice.”

Smriti Mandhana took a strong stand against the terror attack, tweeting: “We stand united against terror. Prayers for the victims of the Pahalgam attack.”
