Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) dramatically by 11 runs in the 42nd match of the IPL in Bengaluru on Thursday, April 24.
Here are the top three highlights from today’s RCB vs RR clash in the IPL 2025
Virat Kohli played a gem of an innings
Virat Kohli opened the innings with Phil Salt and built a partnership of 61 off 40 balls for the first wicket. Then, Devdutt Padikkal joined Kohli in the middle, and they stitched together a partnership of 95 runs off 51 balls, laying the platform for RCB to reach 200. Kohli scored 70 off 42 balls at a strike rate of 166.67, including eight fours and two sixes. He was at the crease until the 16th over and looked in great touch, eyeing his first century of this season, but lost his wicket to Jofra Archer.
Death bowling in the last two overs of the RR innings
RR were 188-5 at the end of the 18th over. With just 18 needed off 12 balls and five wickets in hand, and Dhruv Jurel and Shubham Dubey at the crease, RR looked set for an easy win. But then came the twist. Hazlewood conceded just one run in the 19th over and took the crucial wickets of Dhruv Jurel and Jofra Archer. In T20 cricket, this was nothing short of a miracle. In the 20th over, with 17 runs needed to win, Yash Dayal bowled tightly, conceding only five runs and took one wicket along with a run out to seal the match.
Jitesh Sharma’s DRS call
On the third ball of the 19th over, Hazlewood bowled a wide yorker that took the bottom edge of Dhruv Jurel’s bat. Jitesh Sharma went for the review, and the third umpire gave it out. That was a game-changing review taken by Jitesh Sharma.
