
In the most anticipated clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2025, Chetan Sakariya the left arm pacer from Bhavnagar Gujarat made his debut for KKR franchise to add more strength to their bowling unit. As KKR is struggling to make their way to the playoffs, team needs some great effort and execution to make their way in the top four.
Who is Chetan Sakariya?
Born on February 28,1998, Sakariya started his domestic career with Saurashtra which helped him make his name to the List A debut in 2017-18 Vijay Hazara Trophy and his first-class debut in 2018-19 Ranji Trophy where he impressed everyone with a five wickets haul. He made his T20 debut for Saurashtra during the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
He made his IPL debut in 2021 when Rajasthan Royals picked him for 1.2 crore. In his debut season he took 14 wickets for RR and impressed everyone, which earned him a spot in the Indian national team. He made his ODI and T20I debut against Sri Lanka in July 2021 where he took the wicket of Bhanuka Rajapaksa as his maiden international wicket.
He was also the part of Delhi Capitals in 2022 but could not make such impact, but KKR bought him as a replacement for Umran Malik in ₹50 lakh in this season of IPL 2025, Sakariya bowled three overs but faced a tough outing conceding 39 runs without taking any wicket at an economy rate of 13.0. Despite a challenging start his ability to swing the ball still offer hope for KKR’s bowling lineup.
