Mayank Yadav has made a comeback to the IPL in a flamboyant manner. After getting hit for two sixes on back-to-back balls by Rohit Sharma in his second over, Mayank tricked the MI opener with a slower ball. That ball clicked 120 km/h outside off stump, which Rohit tried to place but was caught at short third man by Prince Yadav.
Soon after the timeout, in his fourth and final over, Mayank knocked off the stumps of MI captain Hardik Pandya (5 off 7 balls). It was a simple ball that Hardik missed, and the ball went on to rattle the stumps, ending Hardik’s hopes of getting a good score. Mayank was the most successful among LSG bowlers with figures of 2/40 in his four overs at an economy rate of 10.00.
Mayank Yadav has already played three T20Is for India
Mayank Yadav had made headlines last year for his lightning pace. He picked up seven wickets from four matches and caught the eyes of the Indian selectors. He made his debut for India and played three T20Is, but had been out of cricket since last October when he played against Bangladesh due to a back injury.
MI delivered a batting show at the Wankhede Stadium as they posted a mammoth 215/7 in their 20 overs. Ryan Rickelton was the star of the show, scoring 58 runs off 32 balls, including six fours and four sixes, at a strike rate of 181.25. Suryakumar Yadav also continued his good form, scoring his third fifty of this season. He smashed 54 off just 28 balls, striking at 192.86. He is now the holder of the Orange Cap. Naman Dhir (25* off 11 balls) and Corbin Bosch (20 off 10 balls) finished the innings in style for MI.
