Breaking: Sanju Samson looking to return as captain against CSK

Sanju Samson (PC: Rajasthan Royals)

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has faced a turbulent IPL season marred by injuries. The season began on a frustrating note as the right-handed batter started the campaign on the sidelines owing to a finger injury, with Riyan Parag taking over the reins. After playing as an impact sub in the first three games, Samson eventually returned to the starting lineup and resumed captaincy, leading the team for the following four matches. As luck would have it, the captain, during a crucial fixture against the Delhi Capitals suffered a side strain that ruled him out of the next three matches. His absence was a significant blow to the Royals, who have now lost eight out the eleven matches they have played.

While it was understood that Samson might miss the entirety of the season, in a much needed boost to the team, Samson is recovering better than expected, a source close to the team has confirmed to RevSportz.  He is eager to return to action and hopes to captain the team in RR’s high-stake game against Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk on Monday. Samson will look to make a strong comeback at the home ground of his idol, MS Dhoni.
