In this vibrant cultural crossover, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Dwayne Bravo stepped into the kitchen alongside Sunil Narine and Andre Russell, joined by celebrity chef Kunal Kapur, to cook the Bengali classic Kosha Murgir Mangsho (slow-cooked chicken). With laughter, learning, and plenty of spice, the episode was a delightful blend of food and fun, celebrating heritage with a generous dash of humour.
Bravo’s fiery stance on calling it “curry chicken” instead of “chicken curry” highlighted how seriously terminology is taken in Trinidad and Tobago. He joked, “If we come on national TV and say chicken curry, the entire country is going to beat us,” giving a glimpse into the passionate food culture of the Caribbean nation.
The KKR mentor also shared insights into their street food: “If you want fast food, there’s a thing in the West Indies called doubles,” describing it as chickpeas and dough, similar to paratha with chickpea curry. He also recommended trying ‘bake and shark’ and ‘roti’ as must-haves when visiting Trinidad and Tobago.
Narine charmed viewers with his trademark iconic hairstyles, saying,“Styling hair is something I started a long while ago.” Meanwhile, Bravo revealed a Bollywood twist, sharing that KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan once promised him a film role in recognition of his Caribbean Premier League (CPL) success.
The episode ended on a playful note with an egg-whisking contest, where Russell joined Bravo and Narine. Bravo emerged victorious, singing his iconic Champion song as he celebrated. The fusion of Bengali curry was perfectly complemented by Russell’s secret weapon—his very own Caribbean hot sauce.
KKR, still in the race for the playoffs, will take on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at their home ground, Eden Gardens in Kolkata, on Sunday, April 4.”
