Punjab Kings (PBKS) moved one step closer to securing a playoff spot in IPL 2025 with a convincing 37-run win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Dharamsala. LSG captain Rishabh Pant chose to bowl first, but Shreyas Iyer’s side grabbed the opportunity with both hands, posting a massive total of 236/5 in 20 overs.
With this win, PBKS moved up to second place with 15 points from 11 games and a net run rate of +0.376. Meanwhile, LSG dropped to seventh, with 10 points in 11 matches and a net run rate of -0.469.
Although Priyansh Arya was dismissed early, Prabhsimran Singh played a brilliant knock. He scored 91 off 48 balls at a strike rate of 189.58. Around him, Josh Inglis (30 off 14), Shreyas Iyer (45 off 25) and Nehal Wadhera (16 off 9) chipped in with useful cameos. Shashank Singh (33* off 15) and Marcus Stoinis (15* off 5) finished strong in the final overs, helping PBKS cross the 230-mark.
For LSG, Akash Singh and Digvesh Rathi took two wickets each, while Prince Yadav claimed one.

In reply, LSG had a poor start. Arshdeep Singh removed all three top-order batters — Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran — inside the powerplay. Rishabh Pant’s poor form continued as he once again failed to contribute with the bat. David Miller also fell cheaply, making things worse for LSG.
Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad put up a fight with an 81-run stand for the sixth wicket. Samad was eventually dismissed for 45 off 24 balls. Badoni kept the chase alive but fell short after scoring 74 off 40 deliveries. Avesh Khan added some late runs with an unbeaten 19 off 10, but LSG could only manage 199/7 in 20 overs.
For PBKS, Arshdeep was the star with the ball, taking three wickets. Azmatullah Omarzai picked up two, while Marco Jansen and Yuzvendra Chahal took one each.
Prabhsimran was named Player of the Match. At the post-match presentation, he said: “It was a very good inning because these two points were vital for us. (On his shot selection) I was on 20-25 then, I got a chance and wanted to capitalise. Could not read the wicket instantly, but when we did, felt we needed 200-plus. Whatever the situation will demand, we will try (and adapt). We are happy that we performed well and won.”
