Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Riyan Parag’s 95 (45) went in vain as they lost a thriller by just one run at the Eden Gardens against the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). It was a monumental effort from the skipper, and single-handedly, he was on the course to change the fate of the game.
But he and his team eventually failed to cross the final line by the barest of margins. However, during that knock, Parag eventually ended up smashing five consecutive sixes to Moeen Ali in a single over.
My inner conscience says i’m hitting 4 sixes in an over at some point this IPL..

It was the 13th over of RR’s innings, and then, in the next over, when he came up against Varun Chakravarthy, he smashed another six, and eventually, he smashed six consecutive sixes on six deliveries. After such heroics, Parag’s old tweet went viral, which he posted on 14 March 2023. It was written: “My inner conscience says I’m hitting 4 sixes in an over at some point this IPL..”
“Probably a miscalculation from my side, I should have finished it.” – Riyan Parag
Unfortunately, the IPL 2023 was a failure for him as he scored only 78 runs in seven games. Forget hitting four sixes in an over, he hit five sixes throughout that whole season. Then, last year, he had the breakthrough season, smashing 573 runs in 16 games, at an average of 52.09 and a strike rate of 149.22, including 40 boundaries and 33 sixes.
This season, he has scored 377 runs in 12 matches but at a strike rate of 170.59, including 27 fours and 26 sixes so far. However, at the post-match presentation, Parag said: “I was just too sad about myself getting out. Probably a miscalculation from my side, I should have finished it. It’s a ground where sixes are hit, so I knew I had my boundaries if I stayed. Wicket was gripping a little and I had to pick my battles, but I felt I could have finished it.”
