South Africa have unveiled their 15-member squad for the highly anticipated ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia, scheduled from June 11 to 15 at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

One of the major talking points is the return of Lungi Ngidi, who has been recalled to the Test squad for the first time since October 2024. Despite limited game time in recent years due to recurring injuries, the selectors have backed the pacer to deliver on the big stage.

“I’m particularly pleased to welcome Lungi back into the fold. He’s worked hard and provides us with a valuable, experienced pace option,” said head coach Shukri Conrad.

Coetzee, Nortje left out for the final showdown

Ngidi will join a pace attack led by Kagiso Rabada, with Dane Paterson also included. Meanwhile, Anrich Nortje, Gerald Coetzee, and rising talent Kwena Maphaka were not named in the squad.

In the batting department, Matthew Breetzke misses out as South Africa opt for Tony de Zorzi, Ryan Rickelton, and Aiden Markram at the top, supported by seasoned campaigners Temba Bavuma and Kyle Verreynne in the middle order. David Bedingham and Tristan Stubbs round out the batting options.

The squad is rich in all-round talent, with Marco Jansen, Wiaan Mulder, and Corbin Bosch providing seam-bowling depth. The spin department features Keshav Maharaj and Senuran Muthusamy as frontline options.

South Africa will begin their preparations in Arundel on May 31, followed by a four-day warm-up match against Zimbabwe from June 3–6, before heading to London on June 7 ahead of the final showdown.
