Virat Kohli, now officially retired from Test cricket, is set to return to action for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 17 in a highly anticipated IPL 2025 fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This will be the first game of tournament as it is set to resume after a week-long break.
To honour his remarkable Test career, RCB fans are reportedly preparing a special tribute for Kohli at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. A fan-led campaign on X (formerly Twitter) is urging supporters to attend the match dressed in white Test jerseys as a gesture of appreciation for Kohli’s contributions to red-ball cricket.
The movement has gained significant traction online, with fans rallying around the idea and showing overwhelming support. A fan post that initiated the campaign read: “Bengaluru guys, you have one job to do – SPREAD THE WORLD.”
“Please think about it and help us make it real.” – RCB Fan
The call to action aims to fill the stadium with fans dressed in whites, mirroring the Test match atmosphere, as a heartfelt tribute to the former India captain. “He made so many of us fall in love with Test cricket, and even though I’ll never get to see him play in whites live, I just want him to know how deeply loved he was in his favourite format,” the fan wrote.
The post further encouraged collective efforts, suggesting that white t-shirts or Test jerseys would suffice to make the moment special. “Please think about it and help us make it real. It would mean the world to many of us. I even made a template. I also think we can raise funds to give away the jerseys outside Chinnaswamy. Even if not jerseys, plain white t-shirts should do,” the post continued.
All eyes will be on May 17 to see if RCB supporters can pull off this unique gesture and create a memorable moment for Virat Kohli in front of his home crowd.
