In a big boost for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is expected to return to India for the remainder of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. According to sources close to the player, as reported by RevSportz, Hazlewood will soon rejoin the RCB camp, although the exact date of his arrival has not yet been confirmed.

Hazlewood was among several overseas players who returned home after the tournament was paused for a week. With the IPL scheduled to resume on May 17, teams have begun regrouping, though several international stars will be absent for the remainder of the league.

Initially, there were doubts about Hazlewood’s availability due to a recent shoulder niggle and Australia’s upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against South Africa at Lord’s. The veteran pacer had missed RCB’s last match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) due to the injury, and with the WTC final approaching, speculation grew that he might prioritise national duties.

However, his decision to return comes as a major lift for RCB, who are in strong contention for a playoff spot. Hazlewood has been in brilliant form with the ball this season, claiming 18 wickets in 10 games and playing an important role in the team’s success till now.

Inglis, Stoinis to miss RR game

Meanwhile, Australian teammates Josh Inglis and Marcus Stoinis will miss Punjab Kings’ clash against Rajasthan Royals on May 18 but are expected to be available for their next game against Delhi Capitals in Jaipur.

PBKS are enjoying a successful season, sitting third on the points table with 15 points from 11 matches, including seven wins and a no-result against Kolkata Knight Riders.

A total of 17 matches remain in the ten-team tournament, including three playoff fixtures and the final, which is scheduled for June 3.
